by Aiyana Ma’at Over at Oprah.com Dr. Phil answers the age old question (smile): “How many times A Week Should A Couple Have Sex?”. We believe that the answer will vary from couple to couple….but there are some parameters every healthy couple should operate within. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again— SEX IS A REQUIREMENT IN A RELATIONSHIP. Plain and simple…sex shouldn’t be withheld when we’re angry (ahem…*clearing throat*…I have to continually work on that one myself :-) ), sex shouldn’t be used as a bargaining tool, and sex shouldn’t be a chore. Take a look at what the infamous Dr. Phil has to say on this and let us know what you think.

Dr. Phil did hit some good pointers, but he didn’t say how many times.Every couple is different. My husband and I make sure we have some type of intimacy everyday.Lord knows it was a test for us when either one of us was upset, but we still seem to erase the madness and enjoy each other.Communications help us a lot, because it helped us to know what we each desired physical from each other daily. We personally have sex everyday and sometimes twice a day.We communicate openly about the physical side of our marriage.25 years and with God guidance its an amazing postive journey.

Dr. Phil didn't squarely answer the question of how many times a couple should have sex, but he makes a good point on what the couple together agrees to be reasonable. I don't think a couple should drop below one time per week though.

Sex in a marriage is like a gauge of other things in the relationship. If your sex life is on the fritz and dropping off… it's time to look at things to see why the intimacy and friendship is declining.

i agree with u on not dropping below 1X week….it's very possible that entering into week number 2 or 3 with no sex will lead one spouse to enter into a space of frustration

I would say some kind of sexual activity should be daily. A kiss, petting, oral sex, anal sex, masturbation (solo or mutual) are good additives to a full course meal.
