There’s a reverberating myth bouncing around the black community that black men lack self control when it comes to sex.  I can attest…it’s a damn lie.  Of course overgeneralization is an error when it comes to any substantive research but for some odd reason this particular myth seems to stick around.  Maybe it’s the music, maybe it’s the videos, maybe it’s real life experiences….whatever it is let’s keep in mind that isolated incidents don’t represent the whole.  Again all black men ain’t dogs and all black men don’t lack self control.  Devon Franklin is an example….check out the interview and see how long he’d been celibate before marrying Meagan Good.

DeVon told Global Grind:

“She was celibate before we got together and I was celibate. You’re not going to believe me,”

“Let me just put it this way, [I’ve been celibate] over ten years. Part of what I also do is preach and the thing that I couldn’t do, which was eating me apart.”

“We’ve been married for over three months, so that was the key to happiness. With men, sometime we run from it, but I’m telling you it’s a blessing,” DeVon said.

Alicia Keys Shares How Finding Her Soulmate Has Been A Freeing Experience

In a recent interview with Ebony magazine, Alicia Keys provides a glimpse into her personal transformation and credits her husband, Swizz Beatz and their baby Egypt with helping her to become a “Brand New Me”.  Alicia says:

“Finding my soul-mate, finding the love of my life has been a freeing experience because of the way we identify [with] each other and understand each other. It’s so rare that you feel like you can be your whole self [with someone]. I can be my whole self, he can be his whole self. I don’t have to be half of myself, he doesn’t have to be half of himself. Meet NFL Player Torrey Smith and His Girlfriend Chanel Williams

Jay-Z & Beyonce Say They Believe In President Obama’s Vision; Raise 4 Million Dollars For Him At Jay’s 40/40 Club

Beyoncé and Jay-z hosted a fundraiser at Jay-Z’s 40/40 and raised $4 million dollars for President Obama. One hundred VIP guest donated $40,000 to attend this event.

 

The beautiful R&B singer introduced our President by saying “I can’t tell you how proud we are to host tonight’s event with President Obama.”

 

The power couple has supported Obama since 2008, Beyoncé even sung at the 2009 inauguration. Although President Obama attended the event solo, he mentioned that his wife and daughters were disappointed that they were not able to attend. The President thanked his hosts and said, “Beyoncé couldn’t be a better role model for our daughters because she carries herself with such class and poise and has so much talent.”

 

One hundred donors in suits and dresses sat on sofas in a large, dark glassy room at Jay-Z’s exclusive club, according to a pool report. Each paid $40,000 to attend the event.

 

“I can’t tell you how proud we are to host tonight’s event with President Obama,” Beyoncé, wearing a red cocktail dress, told the crowd. “We believe in his vision.”

 

Obama thanked them when he took the stage. “To J and B, thank you so much for your friendship.”

 

The president told the crowd that “Michelle, Sasha and Malia are mad at me because they aren’t here.”

 

He said the couple has been so generous to his children: “Beyoncé couldn’t be a better role model for our daughters because she carries herself with such class and poise and has so much talent.”

 

Obama also said he and Jay-Z have a lot of common. “We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are. So, you know, we’ve got a little bond there. It’s hard but it’s okay.”

I don’t know about this one yall.  The whole situation still stinks to me.  Granted…if I were falsely accused of doing anything remotely similar to what Eddie was accused of I would want Aiyana to stand by my side BUT…if it were clear that I was engaged in some questionable behavior with boys or girls I would want Aiyana to take our children and get as far away from me as possible because I wouldn’t want my sickness to destroy anybody else who was close to me.  Well, Vanessa Long chose to stay and now she’s using her challenge as a part of her testimony.

Can You Believe That Chad Tattooed Evelyn’s Face On His Leg?

Chad Johnson does not appear to be quite ready yet to give up on his marriage to his soon-to-be ex-wife Evelyn Lozada.

The temporarily out-of-work NFL star recently tatooed Evelyn’s face on the side of his leg.

While chatting with a few of his Twitter followers, Johnson insisted that Evelyn is still his wife and he has no plans on getting a divorce even though she filed.

So Sad..Michael Clarke Duncan Passes Away At Age 54

Michael Clarke Duncan, the tall and massively built actor with the warm and infectious personality died Monday at the age of 54.  Duncan suffered a myocardial infarction on July 13 and never fully recovered.  When we first heard of his hospitalization it took us all by surprise because he appeared to be in picture perfect health.  As grandma says, “Only God knows the day and the hour”… and since his hour has arrived we pray he rest in peace.

Duncan was born on Dec. 10, 1957 on the South Side and was raised, along with his sister, Judy, by his mother, Jean in the Kenwood neighborhood, his sister said. According to the Internet Movie Database, his mother refused to let him play high school football, so he turned to acting.
