The Mess Of Modern Day Microwave Marriages

By Team BLAM

By now you’ve probably heard that Kim Kardashian filed divorce papers on Monday. The reason? Irreconcilable differences. She told The Scoop: “After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage,” . “I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”

Apparently her husband Kris Humphries isn’t on the same page. “I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce,” he said in a statement to E! News. “I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.”

This 72 day marriage had a prenuptial agreement so all they have to do now is take what’s theirs and move on. Who knew? Their wedding (not marriage) was one of the biggest and most lavish celeb events of the year.

*For example,  according to US Magazine, the bride, 30, wore three ivory Vera Wang gowns throughout the night, and strictly requested her guests wear either black or white. Kim’s sisters — Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and the groom’s sister Kaela — all wore ivory Vera Wang gowns as well.

*The altar where Kim and Kris, 26, exchanged their vows was a huge cross made of Swarovski crystals. “It was a bit much,” a source said. “But Kris’ family are Christians and very religious, so maybe that was a way of incorporating in religion and Kardashian style.”

*The couple’s black and white cake — designed by Hansen Cakes in LA, and estimated to cost a whopping $15,000 to $20,000 — was a six foot tall, black and white masterpiece.

I’m not even hating on the the bling on steroids represented all throughout the wedding. Hey, if you got it like that–do you. But, what the H E double hockey sticks is up with a 72 day marriage??? Of course, rumors are already out and about.

Reports are saying that tension in the marriage spread across entertainment media for the past week, with reports of 26-year-old New Jersey Nets player Humphries’ reluctance to play his role in the Kardashian brand and differences over where the newlyweds should make their home. Really?

I even heard on the radio (actually while writing this) that the wedding was a big scam and that each of them made a cool 7 million from this whole….”performance”, I guess?

Look I don’t know, you don’t know–only the two of them really know what the deal is but I want to speak for a moment on what I do know. Here’s what I DO know:

Marriage is a COVENANT not to be trifled with.

A covenant marriage is intended by God to be a lifelong relationship representing unconditional love, reconciliation, and growth.

A covenant is an eternal commitment with God. People can negotiate out of contracts, but not out of a covenant. And, don’t hit me with “Well, what if someone’s being abused?!” That’s not what I’m talking about, ok?

Marriage is supposed to be a lifelong covenant relationship. When a couple shares their wedding vows, they are (supposed to be) vowing to God, each other, their families, and their community to remain steadfast in unconditional love, commitment, and reconciliation while purposefully growing in their relationship.

That word steadfast is significant. Look it up. Here’s what it means….

Steadfast: Firmly loyal or constant. Fixed in intensity or direction. Steady.Unwavering or determined in purpose.

As much as we  here at BLAM advocate that only you and your spouse can, at the end of the day, define your marriage and what works for you — Marriage is not just whatever we say it is. It’s not a game. It’s not a show. It’s not a performance. It’s not to be disrespected or played with.

I think most of us know better  but lawd have mercy whether your name is Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries or Jane & John Doe WE GOT TO DO BETTER!

Stop Playing. Start Pushing.

T.I.’s New Show “Family Hustle” Will Premiere In December. Will You Be Watching?

Rapper T.I. and his family are set to star in a new VH1 reality show/documentary called “Family Hustle”.

Here’s what T.I. had to say about joining the ranks of the other reality shows on air:

We are doing a television documentary, basically a peek inside our life. But the term “reality show” has such a horrible stigma to it. The term “reality show,” I feel that it insults the integrity of all of the hard work, effort and energy. And just the passion that a true artist puts into what we really do. Anything that I do is going to be of a certain standard and a certain quality that I feel the term “reality show” conflicts with that. So I ain’t going to call it that. It’s a television show that me and my family are doing, it’s called “The Family Hustle.” And basically it gives you a peek inside my life and shows you that I’m responsible for shaping and molding lives, personally and professionally. Personally, everyone in my family got something that they’re trying to do and it’s my job to take their desires and passions and cultivate their success. And also how to balance my personal life and obligations at home as a son, as father, as a husband, as a friend. As well as how to balance those with my professional obligations. A lot of people always say, “Hey man, how do you always stay so connected with your family and keep strong family ties and still rip and run, and do stuff professionally? How do you work as hard as you do and still stay so present?” And I think this kind of answers their question visually.

T. I. also shared about speaking with his kids about his incarceration and past legal issues:

Without question. I’m an honest, open father. I’m as transparent as I can be with them understanding. They know that I’ve done things in life that they are not to ever do. And they know that I’ve lived a lifestyle that I worked hard for them not to ever have to experience. I stress the point of accountability, of being held responsible for your actions and having to reap what you sow.

Calm Down People-What’s Growing Inside Beyonce’s Womb Is Not The Blueprint; It’s Not Biblical–It’s A Baby

Does Beyoncé realize that women have been carrying and birthing babies for thousands of years? More to the point, do we?

I get the fact that by now, all bets are off when it comes to celebrity motherhood — what with Erykah Badu live-tweeting her home birth and “it” girls introducing their Havens and Sparrows to the world in People. We know all about how Gisele’s bathtub birth didn’t hurt, and very soon we will know what Kingston, Zuma and all of the Jolie-Pitts wore for Halloween.

But I think I may have to draw the line at the continuous, wall-to-wall blitz that has become Beyoncé’s pregnancy. It may be the perfect symbol of married black love — which many a culture critic has said that we desperately need to see — writ large. It may be the ultimate marketing machine, swathed in couture as befits hip-hop royalty. But the mania surrounding this biological event has gotten way out of hand.

I’m happy for you, Bey, but the joy growing inside your womb is not the blueprint, and it is not biblical. It isn’t the Visitation; nor is it the dawn of a new epoch in the human calendar. It’s a baby.

Beyoncé is all about doing things large and loud, and her August baby-bump reveal at the MTV Video Music Awards didn’t disappoint. With the rub broadcast round the world, she instantly locked down Best Gestational Red Carpet Moment Ever, setting a 8,868-tweet-per-second record that dwarfed news of the royal wedding and the killing of Osama bin Laden.

It wasn’t just another blingy pop-culture moment: That reveal was the 21st-century equivalent of a pregnant Lucille Ball shattering convention in 1953, when the childbirth episode of I Love Lucy beat out ratings for Dwight Eisenhower’s presidential inauguration the following day.

Sherri Shepherd Talks Marriage Life, Divorce, Parenting & Advice On Catching A Man

A healthy lifestyle is essential to sustaining one’s relationships day to day. Not to mention the importance of oral hygiene, which, according to Sherri Shepherd, is one of the golden rules for enhancing her bond with husband, Lamar Sally, and son, Jeffrey, who all recently introduced the power toothbrush to their daily routine.

“One of the things that I do that I’ve found from being newly married is that my husband and I, we go in the bathroom and brush our teeth together. And that’s when we talk about what’s going on in the day, so we get to bond that way,” she recently told The Huffington Post. “Another powerful moment for me is my son: I’ve been teaching him how to brush his teeth by himself, so he has his own power toothbrush. And he loves it because it’s fun for him.”

It’s not a coincidence that “The View” co-host has converted from a regular toothbrush to a power toothbrush: she also is currently Oral-B’s newest spokeswoman to promote the benefits of the power toothbrush.

“I am trying to inspire people to just take control of their oral health, because if we don’t take care of our oral health, it affects so many different aspects of our lives. If your smile and mouth is not together, it affects your relationship, your self-esteem, your health,” she explained. “So I’m really passionate about this. I am on the power toothbrush train and I’m asking people to try to using an Oral B power toothbrush. I just started using one and I cannot believe that I waited this long to use a power toothbrush. It’s so much easier than using an manual toothbrush.”

Having a pearly white smile has paid off substantially for the funny woman and television personality, who got engaged to television writer Lamar Sally over the holidays, on December 26, 2010. The couple tied the knot on August 13 in Chicago, making it her second marriage.

“Marriage is a great thing. I feel very blessed that I got a second chance to get this thing right. So we’re having a really good time,” she said. “He loves my son, my son adores him. Marriages are work, but I like the person. If you’re going to go through the valleys and the hills, you want to figure out who you want to go through it with. So I got a good guy.”

Prior to being swept off her feet, the “The Newlywed Game” host and Emmy Award-winner was married to comedian Jeff Tarpley. The couple separated in 2006 and divorced in 2009. As she revealed, her more recent trip down the aisle was more festive than her previous.

“When I planned my wedding the first time, my ex-husband and I, we were both struggling comics. I had a TV show that had gotten cancelled. Basically, I rented a wedding gown; the reception hall smelled like feet,” she admitted. “Seriously, my bridesmaid bought 20 cans of Glade air freshener and made everyone wait because they had to spray it. It smelled like old people. We had a cake that was [made out of] foam, and it was like a cake that you couldn’t cut into. It was really done on the cheap. So this time around, it truly was everything that both Sal and I dreamed about. I don’t have one regret.”

Beyonce Says Shopping For Maternity Clothes Is Fun; Tracy Morgan Engaged

Even though most women find pregnancy to be one of the greatest times in their lives there’s still one part of it that is a drag: and it’s the task of finding stylish and flattering clothes when you have to account for all the baby weight you’ll be putting on. But maternity clothes have come a long way since the 80s, when women were just pairing oversized men’s shirts from the Gap with lots of jewelry. Today, there’s a lot more options for women — in fact, it’s become a trend to wear formfitting clothes so onlookers can see how far along your fetus is into growing his toenails.

But one person who isn’t stressing out about finding maternity clothes is Beyoncé, who told CNN that she actually finds dressing her new figure to be enjoyable. She said, “I’m having so much fun, it has been the most fun time now that [my pregnancy] has been announced and I don’t have to, you know, it was really difficult to conceal. But now that I can be proud and excited about it, I’m having so much fun shopping. It’s great.”

B even admitted sporting clothes from her own label, House of Deréon, even though they’re not intended to be for women who are expecting. She said, “What I’m wearing today is part of the collection and it’s not supposed to be, but it actually is really good for…maternity.” She then elaborated on her fashion mindset, saying “My mother has always taught me that beauty comes from within and what’s exciting about being a woman is you can say, ‘Today… I feel really conservative, today I’m feeling classy. Today I am going on a date and I want to just be a showstopper.’ And you know there is a variety of beautiful clothes that can bring out whatever you feel inside. But it comes from here and you should wear your clothes, they shouldn’t wear you.”
