Recently on MSNBC’s “The Ed Show,” Michael Eric Dyson debated The Grio.com’s Sophia Nelson on President Obama’s position on gay marriage.  We were pleased to hear Michael publicly apologize for recent comments he made while hosting “The Ed Show”, about Roland Martin, Sophia Nelson, and Pastor Jamal Bryant.  After Sophia accepted his apology the two engaged in back and forth dialogue about biblical reference and interpretation of gay marriage.  Check it out when you get a sec and let us know what you think.

I think she misinterpreted how President Obama felt from the beginning. All he has ever said on the subject is "I think the state should handle marriage laws individually. I don't think it should be changed in the constitution." He never said that he didn't believe in Gay marriage, I think what he offered is that he wouldn't be addressing it. I think he is now offering that he may be addressing it from a Federal perspective, since states have taken such negative measures to stamp it out. Politicians are tricky in their language, and they say things that satisfy the small-minded. She was obviously satisfied with what he said in 2008, but I don't think she actually heard him.

Why won't anybody answer the question around black folks saying that they believe in a literal interpretation of the bible and the fact that the bible says marriage is between a man and a woman but yet they don't believe that:
slaves should obey their masters or that
children who disobey their parents should be killed or that one
who spills their seed on the ground (i.e., masturbation) should be killed

WHY DO THEY PICK AND CHOOSE WHAT THEY WANT TO BELIEVE??????? SOPHIA NELSON NEEDS TO ANSWER THAT!

It isn't logically consistent to use the Bible to condemn homosexuality unless you also want to condone slavery. You see, the Bible states that,“And if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poor, and be sold unto thee; thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bondservant. But as an hired servant, and as a sojourner, he shall be with thee, and shall serve thee unto the year of jubilee. And then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return. For they are my servants, which I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: they shall not be sold as bondmen. Thou shalt not rule over him with rigour; but shalt fear thy God. Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bond maids. Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession. And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigor.” So according to the Old Testament, it is acceptable to enslave people of different races. Hence, "the Bible says it" is a faulty argument.
