Oscar nominated actor, Michael Clarke Duncan sat down with the hosts of “The Talk” in February of 2012 and shared some details about his relationship with “Apprentice” reality star,Omarosa Manigault.  He actually approached her in a grocery store and his pickup line was “you’re the mean girl, from the show”……she said “yeah” then turned and walked away.  Lol.  Based on this interview he seems like a pretty cool dude.  He says he was homeless twice and lets the audience know you can do anything you put your mind to.

This Weekend: Shannon & Monica Brown Are Making A Difference Through The Wood-Star Music Festival

NBA Phoenix Suns guard Shannon Brown is serious about giving back. That is why he launched the Wood-Star Music Festival last year, a music festival showcasing R&B and old school hip-hop artists. The proceeds benefit the Shannon Brown Foundation. Shannon started the foundation in an effort to provide scholarships and financial assistance to inner-city youth.

 

This weekend, activities included a free basketball clinic yesterday for children in seventh through 11 grades and culminates in a celebrity basketball game today featuring local and national celebrities.

 

We love how Shannon & Monica are using their time, talents, & moolah to give back to the community. It truly makes a difference for young people (and older folks too) to see this beautiful couple doing big things together. Their image alone is empowering.

Shannon’s wife of two years, Monica, headlined the concert yesterday.  Other performers included Robin Thicke, Estelle, Dawn Richard and Fantasia.

Monica is currently promoting her new album, “New Life,” which features a duet with singer Brandy on the single, “It All Belongs to Me.” Fourteen years ago, the two recorded the hit song, “The Boy is Mine.” Now, the mother of two is touting her new single, “Without You,” which she said is about  her hubby Shannon. How cute!

Did Yall Know About The 6 Year Marriage Of Black Panther And Storm

To be honest with you I’m not really into comic book characters.  I didn’t know who Black Panther was until earlier this year when a good friend hipped me to him.  Apparently he’s one of the best out there and he’s got one of the baddest brides in the comic book world, Storm.  Well I just found out yesterday that their 6 year marriage may be coming to an end.  Why?….apparently folks had issues about their relationship.  In any event, reading the below piece was a bit fascinating so I decided to post it on the site.  I sho nuff didn’t know about their marriage…did yall?

Marvel’s Black Panther (aka T’Challa) and X-Men’s Storm (aka Ororo Munroe) have been married since 2006. They wed in Black Panther #18 and have remained the only black married couple in the Marvel Universe. Until now. In a new issue of Avengers vs. X-Men, Black Panther dumps Storm in the coldest, most public way possible: during a battle she showed up (too late for his liking) to help him fight:

The writers may have decided on an “annulment” for the couple in response to fans’ disappointment with their storyline. Some argued that it was rushed and “unearned,” since there wasn’t any real courtship and it seemed that they were just being thrown together because both were high-profile black characters. If their relationship has been a point of contention with readers, that’s nothing compared to what goes on inside the pages of comics. Apparently, in an issue that featured the couple as married, Black Panther assaulted Storm in a fight scene.

Black Panther and Storm’s marriage was not without its supporters. A commenter at Shadow and Act claimed, “They couldn’t handle it that THE hottest & most powerful Black woman in the comic book world actually married a brotha.” Others in the comment section there are also lamenting the hasty split. But it would appear that there might be an off-page political reason for the sudden annulment.

After hearing the news about rapper The Game and his fiancee landing a reality Tv show to cover their upcoming wedding, within days of the announcement things suddently took a turn for the worst.

The Game, aka Jayceon Taylor, announced that the wedding was called off!

On Thursday, The Game took to his Twitter account and explained to his followers why he called off his July 28th wedding to long-time girlfriend Tiffany Cambridge.

The Game tweeted:

The rumors are TRUE. The wedding is OFF. It’s not her fault, it’s mine ! She’s a GREAT woman, I just wasn’t man enough 2 see it through.

Important message to all men: If you’re lucky to have 1/2 of the woman I had… Appreciate her & do everything necessary to keep her happy !

I am truly sorry & apologetic to my family, friends & EVERYONE that this has affected & inconvenienced.

Not everyone has a happy ending.

Alrighty then…maybe this was a good thing. Marriage is serious commitment. If your not ready to get married, then you should not do it.

Obama recalls how the first date with his future wife was lunch at the Art Institute of Chicago, ending the afternoon with a trip to a cinema to watch the Spike Lee film Do The Right Thing.

As Michelle recalls:

“It was a cool date, we spent the whole day together, he was showing me all facets of his character. We went to the Art Institute.”

Barack then points at the camera and says: “Art – guys out there, it impresses people.”

The couple then “took a nice long walk down Michigan Avenue,” according to Michelle:

“He showed all the sides – he was hip, cutting edge, cultural, sensitive,” she said.

Barack adds: “Take tips gentlemen.”

Scottie & Larsa Pippen Celebrate 15 Years Of Marriage

This past weekend, NBA legend Scottie Pippen and his wife Larsa celebrated their 15 year anniversary as well as Larsa’s birthday at the newly launched SLS Hotel.

The couple invited close friends to party and dine with them over a full course private dinner personally prepared by esteemed chef Jose Andres at Hyde Lounge on South Beach.

The evening was full of memorable moments, especially Scottie’s special toast to Larsa in which he declared that being married to her has been “the best 15 years of his life and he’s looking forward to their next 15.”

They were both surprised with a five tiered anniversary cake from Divine Delicacies, each tier representing their four kids and the fifth tier a symbol of the unity of their love topped with a crystal incrusted “LPS” representing Larsa Pippen Scottie.
