I Think My Relationship Can Survive A Fist Fight

VIDEO: At some point in our relationship we are all confronted with challenges and some situations are more serious than others. In this video we touch on a really serious topic based on a question that came in where a girlfriend cut her boyfriend because he put his hands on her. She feels like everyone around her is trying to keep her and her boyfriend apart rather than help them. She asks Why don’t our families try to help us instead of saying things like “Women die every day from Domestic Violence blah, blah, blah”. (Those are her words, not ours) Listen in as we give her honest feedback and leave a comment with your perspective and advice for this young lady.

[Ask The Ma’at’s] My Husband Is Controlling And I Want Out Of This Mess!

Viewer Question/Video: I am a mother of 3 from previous relationships; two boys from my x-husband and a daughter from a very abusive relationship. I meet a man that I had heard bad things about (he had many women in his past) yet I fell in love with him because one he was there as a friend and saved me from my abusive relationship. Well we dated 3 months and got married yes it was signs that it should have not happened yet I went thru with it. He has many issues like not talking to me for days and be in the same house, sleep on the couch for no reason cause I have begged him to come to bed but he says its what he has always done; he don’t like my oldest son and yes he (my oldest son) has issues but I feel being an adult you should lay down rules and not leave your house to stay with your mother for two months and then come back when the child leave. Yes I have been wrong because I do say hurtful things when I am angry but I am so tired because I have to do everything and all he does is go to work come home and go to sleep me I have to go to work clean the house cook take kids to appointments take care of the bills call if something need to be handled and all he do is complain that I don’t have any time for him or take him for a joke. I wanted to join the choir and he got mad at me for that and told me I could join the army if I wanted he didn’t care that he would go to another church. I want to get out of this mess so bad but I just don’t have the money and on top of all this we just purchased a new home and I really didn’t want to sign the papers but I was sick of my kids sleeping on the sofa. He is so controlling and I do not know what else to do can you help.

[Ask The Ma’at’s] My Wife Is Financially Irresponsible And It’s Destroying Our Marriage

Viewer Question: Can you help! I am in a marriage that is un-conventional by today’s standards. I’m 41, but my wife is 47. I have no children, but my wife has 1 teenage son (and pays child-support to her sons father). I have never been married, but my wife’s marriage to me is her 2nd. I have a stable job and earn an higher income then my wife. My wife is a temp and earns less money than me. I manage all of the finances except the money that my wife earns. When my wife and I were dating she was evicted from her home for making late payments on her mortgage (although she was employed consistently at the time this happened). She was very irresponsible with finances when we were dating and has been since we have been married. In addition, she has “given” her money away to family members and friends in the past despite being late with child support payments, cell-phone bills, student loan payments and IRS payments. We have been married for 4 years now and at first I was upset with the fact that my wife was and irresponsible person with finances. Since then I have realized that if I manage the finances, we should be alright. Now comes the hard part! Not only does she not manage her own money well, but refuses to allow me to manage it. I have to ask her to give me $500 a month cash towards the household bills to keep us afloat in our apartment (since we are no where near ready to purchase a home). She does not even do that consistently. This is a person who is college educated with a minor in finance! I have to tell the inner voice in my head that she is not a crazy, but it’s hard sometime.

What do you suggest???

[Ask The Ma’at’s] How To Go From Orgasm To (WE)gasm

Viewer Question/Video: Simultaneous orgasm isn’t common; it’s actually very rare. The reason for that is because women and men generally don’t orgasm the same way. She’ll often have her orgasm through oral sex, while he’ll then have his orgasm during intercourse. Timing is also a factor. However, despite the challenges that have to be overcome to achieve this particularly special kind of ecstasy–there are three very helpful tips we want to give–take them in, try them out, and turn each other out! 😉

[Ask The Ma’at’s] I Cheated. I Apologized. Then My Woman Made A Sex Tape With Another Man

Viewer Question/Video: When cheating occurs in a relationship, is the intention for men different from women?

I cheated on my girlfriend of five years, because of poor communication within our relationship. It was one time, but it had potential lastly affects, because this woman could have been pregnant. I tried to cover it up, until girl came knocking on my door. I had to tell my girlfriend the truth about the situation, which I did. I understand the pain and impact it had on my relationship. She took me back, which I was very grateful. From that day forward, I was focused preparing to marry my girlfriend. We went ring shopping. She knew my attentions about our relationship. She still had pain about my infidelity, but never communicated anything to me. She ended up cheating on my with another man for about year, plus they ended up having a sex tape that sending on multiple porn websites. What hurts me the most about the sex tape is words about how great his is to her. I am still in the relationship with because I love her. I figured if I was married with her and this happened, I will need to deal with this situation. I love her so much, but I feel that her cheating had greater impact in our relationship, but she feel cheating is cheating. Can cheating be weighted more than another?

[Ask The Ma’at’s] How Do I Get This Man Out Of My House?

A viewer wrote in and asked us a very simple question: How do I get this man out of my house….I’ve been trying for years?  We chuckled at the simplicity of the question and offered some suggestions to help him “get a hint”.  We also challenge the fact that if something has been going on for soooo long then you may be participating in the “mess” and getting a payoff from it.  Check out the video and let us know what you think.

[Ask The Ma’at’s] Is It Ok For My Man To Have “Close” Female Friends?

VIDEO: Thanks so very much for what you are bringing our community. More blessings to you for caring enough to conceive! My question is regarding my current relationship of three years. My boyfriend (former fiance but we decided to slow down) moved geographically closer to build a relationship with good intention and so we continue to work through the rough edges, etc. However, he feels its okay to maintain friendships with women he describes as his close friends (a couple of whom are ex-girlfriends). These friendships consists of phone conversations and possibly infrequent visits since they reside several miles away. I spoke with one of the women on the phone and she confirmed the friendship. I would like to know your thoughts on this. In my opinion, i think he may be lacking in self-esteem/self-value and really looks to those who provide him a host of “feel-good” (in other words, mine may not be enough).

Cut ‘Em Some Slack….Show A Little Grace And Gratitude

VIDEO: When our lives are surrounded by drama…that infectious spirit can occasionally seep into our relationships causing us to nit pick and gripe about every little thing. While it’s Ok to voice your complaints or concerns in your relationship, it’s also Ok to cut your partner some slack. Your partner won’t get it right or be “on point” all the time…and that’s Ok. Cut ’em some slack!

*Note* this video is 2 years old BUT the message is timeless.  Listen. Love. Learn.

One Lie Too Many. How Much Is Too Much?

VIDEO: Do you keep finding yourself in relationships with habitual liars, abusers,or (you fill in the blank)? Do you find yourself attracted to people and situations that bring misery to your life? When we continue to find ourselves in the same situation again and again—each time with slightly different characters—we must stop and ask the oh so necessary question: What is the same and who is the same?

So often we find ourselves saying things like: “Why do men always____?” or People always treat me like____!” In reality, the people are changing from situation to situation but the behaviors and experiences we are having are the same and we are the common denominator in each situation!

In this show we help a viewer work through some messy stuff in her relationship by advising her to take a deep look at herself to see why she keeps attracting the same old junk.
